What is the Drill Vault?
The Drill Vault is an online library of Hockey Drills which can help any youth hockey coach teach the technical aspect of the game. All of our drills are actual videos we have created ourselves.
How many Hockey Drills are there?
Currently we have OVER 400 video hockey drills broken down into a number of categories including Shooting, Agility, Stickhandling and Skating – both Forwards and Backwards. We are also slowly adding Practice Plans for different ages.
A Few Sample Drills from our library of over 400 drills!
Why do I need it?
As coaches oursleves, we know that somtimes it’s tough to come up with new material to use in your weekly practices. With instant access to hundreds of video drills you will always have something to use. Each drill in the coaches’ video vault is explained in detail and then demonstrated. Coaches watch the drill, hear what it is, see how it’s performed and then are better equipped to explain and have players execute on the ice.

Our Drills cover all the basic skills, such as…

- Stickhandling –
We have over 150 drills in this category covering dribbling in different areas around the body, moves, fakes and dekes, toe control, expansion of reach, bottom hand slide, cupping exercises and puck tricks. - Forward Skating —
Hockey is the only major sport where you have to learn something before you can play and that is skating. Skating is the single most important foundational skill that must be mastered in order to reach full potential. In this category, we’ll cover the most basic drills in teaching proper form, full extension and recovery, use of arms and progress to inside and outside edgework, crossovers, as well as stopping. - Backward Skating —
Backward skating is something coaches can’t have players do enough of. I try to make all the players I coach or train better backward skaters than they are forward. In this category well cover basic drills to gain confidence skating backwards and progress to inside & outside edgework, balance exercises and conclude with backward step over’s and lateral movement. - Shooting –
All shooting drills a demonstrated by former NHL sniper and shooting instructor Scott Bjugstad. He’ll show you the basics in how to teach shooting, proper hand and body position and incorporating the technology in today’s sticks. You’ll learn the wrist shot, pull wrist & snap shots, backhand shot and the slap shot. - Agility, Lateral, Figure 8’s, Transitions & Jump Rope —
In this category we are focusing on the athleticism of the game, developing coordination, single leg balance and agility, lateral movement, transitioning, use of jump ropes and multitasking.
